Preventive services are family focused services provided for the purpose of averting out-of-home placements or delaying a child's return from placement. The Waverly School-Based Preventive Program works with students living in Tioga County who are enrolled in the Waverly School District.

Program Goals
- Caseworker meets with youth weekly at school
- Caseworker meets with youth monthly at home
- Engage families in understanding and addressing issues which place children at risk
- Decrease out-of-home placement
Program Objectives
- Provide regular collaboration with youth, family, school personnel and other involved services
- Provide support to youth and family as they address difficult issues like attendance/truancy issues, behaviors at home and/or school
- Help bridge any gaps between school and life at home
